Job site effectiveness measure now available!

Which job site? At last a quantitative measurement exists!

Up to now there has been no independent measure to help select the most appropriate job site. There are plenty of statistics in the job site industry but they only confuse the issue. Also, big doesn't necessarily mean best, and a strong brand image doesn't necessarily mean strong recruitment performance.

No longer should the amount of traffic to a job site ("page impressions" or otherwise) be used as a proxy for the effectiveness of the job site - there is quite some difference, you will agree!

At HR Portal we are trying to make the on-line recruitment market more transparent. We believe it is in everyone's interests to know where to place job vacancy adverts for the best return. We handle in excess of 250,000 job vacancies per year, and many times the number of candidate responses. The majority of these are in the Banking, Finance and Accountancy sector where we post to numerous job sites (although we have statistics for Sales, Retail and IT sectors too).

HR Portal's headline performance measurement is "applications per job posting". This is number of candidate responses for each time a specific job is posted to a specific job site.  The data is held at a low level meaning that ultimately we can analyse job site performance by specific job title, seniority, level of experience, salary and geography.

So, an example will serve to illustrate the measure. Below is the output from such a job site comparison - of the recruitment of Financial Controllers (n.b. this example covers all experience levels, salaries, and seniority, and all the UK, but a more refined analysis is obviously possible).

We combine these statistics with specific knowledge of the job sites (e.g. Monster's figures are inflated as they draw from a global pool of candidates). This is what we mean by delivering transparency to the job site market. Now you have this information where would you look to to advertise a Financial Controller vacancy? Not necessarily where you may have been inclined to go to before!

This analysis is available for numerous job titles in the banking, finance and accountancy sector. We are pushing this analysis into other sectors too.

It was Lord Leverhulme, the founder of the Unilever consumer goods empire who said "I know half my advertising is wasted; I just don't know which half". Focus your expenditure where it has most impact - let HR Portal tell you where this is. Contact us for more information.
